Camping in Rome
EuroResorts offer a glorious campsite on the edge of Italy’s Eternal City
The city of Rome has been a favourite tourist destination for almost as long as it has existed and a favoured camping location. Rome is internationally renowned for its many iconic attractions including Vatican City, the Coliseum, Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and numerous examples of Italian architecture and art - making it the perfect place for couples and family campers looking for history and culture.
Rome has been at the centre of European history since the era of the Roman Empire, yet has developed into a modern city that is an attractive option for families considering camping in Rome. Full to the brim with quality restaurants, tasty street food, thriving nightlife and museums of all kinds - Rome is one of our favourite camping holiday destinations in the world.
Campsites in Rome tend to be located around the outskirts of the city. We offer Camping Village Fabulous, less than a 30 minute drive from the city centre.
Why choose a camping holiday to Rome?
Italians are well known for their love of children, meaning that on a family holiday in Rome finding things to do with the children will never be a problem. Children are encouraged to dine in fine restaurants, appreciate art and be themselves.
A family holiday in Rome can be both educational and fun for your children. For example, we recommend that our family campers try riding the small train on Pincio Hill and visit the fountain, where local children splash around in the water to cool down on a hot day.
Out & about
When sightseeing gets too much for the children, there are plenty of things to keep them entertained. Rome’s Bioparco, the city zoo, is a huge safari adventure park on the outskirts of Villa Borghese Park. For a really fun day, head out to Zoomarine where all the family can see exotic birds, dolphins and sea lions before splashing around in the park’s swimming pools.
Dining out in Rome
Dining out with children in Italy is generally very easy. Many restaurateurs welcome children like they are special guests. Italian cuisine is replicated all over the world, but is naturally at its best in Italy and Rome is no exception.
We highly recommend that you escape the campsite for a night or two and seek out family-owned establishments which offer affordable traditional Italian dishes, including delicious pizza and pasta and the delicious 'gelato' (ice creams). There are plenty to choose from!
Getting to your Rome campsite
Rome has two major airports, Fiumicino (Leonardo du Vinci) and Ciampino, with flights provided by a number of airlines including EasyJet, Ryanair, British Airways and Aer Lingus.
The joys of Rome - without the cost
For holidays in Rome, we think there’s nowhere better than Camping Village Fabulous - our stunning local campsite.
